Lassen Ricard is committed to social awareness and the betterment of the community, both in Denmark and internationally. The firm encourages its lawyers to do pro bono work and public service. And we devote significant resources to such projects.
Lassen Ricard is strongly committed to innovation and entrepreneurship. We believe that it is the single best way for Denmark to remain competitive and to create development in a globalised world. We further believe that innovation and entrepreneurship is something that can be learned and that the right start is essential for a start-up to succeed.
Lassen Ricard is involved in several entrepreneurial organisations. In that capacity we both mentor, educate and provide legal services to a number of exciting entrepreneurs on a pro bono basis.
One of the organisations is Stardust-DTU, a student-run organisation that supports entrepreneurship at the Danish Technical University. Stardust-DTU runs an incubator programme for student start-ups within such broad fields as for example nanotech, renewables, it, consulting and med-tech. Since 2011 we have provided all of its start-ups with free mentoring, workshops on such issues as intellectual property, contract negotiation, employment law, etc., as well as free legal work.
The entrepreneurial organisations also include CSE-Lab and the Foundation for Entrepreneurship where we provide various free assistance.
Lassen Ricard supports the provision of free legal aid to those who cannot afford an attorney. Several of our employees have been or are working in free legal aids, and Lassen Ricard has also repeatedly provided free resources to “Den Sociale Retshjælp” (“the Social Legal Aid”).
Lassen Ricard also supports Kofoeds Skole (“Kofoed's School”). Kofoeds Skole helps the unemployed and disadvantaged to help themselves. Kofoeds Skole does this via education, counselling, social interaction and help with practical issues. Lassen Ricard provides various free legal services to Kofoeds Skole.
Lassen Ricard has assisted the National Association for Multiple System Atrophy since its foundation in 2004. MSA is a rare progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects the autonomic functions of the body, and the Association works for an increased public awareness of the disorder.
Lassen Ricard believes that in a globalised world we must also pursue global solutions, understanding and integration. Among our initiatives we devote significant resources to creating a closer relationship between India and Denmark.
Lassen Ricard is strongly engaged in the “India Today/Copenhagen Tomorrow” project. The purpose of India Today/Copenhagen Tomorrow is to link the people of India and Denmark by promoting an exchange of culture, science and trade between the two countries. The project is funded by the Danish Holck-Larsen Foundation. Lassen Ricard contributes on a pro bono basis to this great project and also actively engages with our extensive network in India and Denmark to further the project.
Lassen Ricard is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, both among its own employees and in society.
Lassen Ricard has, for example, been very active in the five-year project “Mangfoldighedsprojektet” (the “Diversity Project”). The project promoted inclusion of all ethnical and social minorities. The inclusion of such minorities in society and the work force is essential for democracy. Minorities should not merely be clients, but also lawyers, judges and politicians. They should not be the subject of discussion, but part of the discussion. Mangfoldighedsprojektet promoted these virtues via education, role models, organised debates and workshops, essay competitions and a stipend to minorities pursuing a legal education. Lassen Ricard and Sportgoodsfonden were the initiators of the project.
